The energy transition refers to the shift from a model based on fossil fuels (coal, oil, gas) to an energy mix that prioritizes renewable energy sources.

Net-zero
Swiss climate policy aims to limit global warming to 1.5 °C. To achieve this objective, the Federal Council decided in 2019 that Switzerland must reduce its greenhouse gas emissions to net zero by 2050. The net-zero target is also anchored in the Climate and Innovation Act (LCI or KIG in french or german), which entered into force in 2023.
“Net zero” means that the amount of greenhouse gases released into the atmosphere does not exceed the amount that can be removed by natural or artificial sinks. Natural sinks include, for example, forests. Artificial sinks refer to solutions that allow CO₂ removed from the atmosphere to be stored permanently underground. (source)
