CO2 Footprint

The CO2 footprint (or carbon footprint) is a quantification of the greenhouse gas emissions generated by a company's activities. A company's carbon footprint must include all relevant emissions categories defined by the Greenhouse Gas Protocol (GHG), including energy consumption and heating, mobility and transport, waste and office automation. Climate Services can also quantify CO2 emissions linked to a company process or to the specific production of a good or service.

By reducing its CO2 emissions, a company cuts its costs by reducing its needs in terms of energy, consumables, travel and so on. This action is an important commitment that you can promote to your investors, customers, or consumers. A CO2 or carbon footprint assessment enables you to prioritize actions by identifying the main sources of GHG (greenhouse gas) emissions.

We draw up your organization's carbon footprint in accordance with the guidelines of the Greenhouse Gas Protocol (GHG) and the requirements of ISO 14'064.

How the project unfolds:

  • Definition of the scope of the assessment: identification of emission sources
  • Online form for data entry
  • Data entry into the form by the organization
  • Verification of data
  • Presentation of results

Climate Services has specially developed a software tool for tailor-made emissions quantification.

The CO2-Platform

The CO2-Platform is an online tool for carrying out carbon footprint assessments. Climate Services has developed this tool in collaboration with the School of Engineering and Architecture of Fribourg (HEIA-fr). This tool enables you to configure a form specific to the activity of the organization concerned, thus facilitating data entry.

Greenhouse Gas Protocol (GHG)

The Greenhouse Gas Protocol is an essential tool for measuring and managing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. It was developed by the World Resources Institute (WRI) and the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD). The protocol provides detailed guidelines for establishing GHG emission inventories.

This allows companies to assess their GHG emissions in a consistent and transparent way, enabling them to set reduction targets and implement strategies to achieve them.

The Greenhouse Gas Protocol is widely used around the world, by companies and governments alike, to assess and mitigate the impact of greenhouse gas emissions on climate change.

ISO 14’064

ISO 14064 is an international standard that provides guidelines and requirements for quantifying, monitoring, and reporting greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. The standard was developed by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) to help organizations assess and manage their impact on climate change.

By implementing the principles and requirements of ISO 14064, organizations can reliably measure and track their GHG emissions, set reduction targets and demonstrate their efforts to mitigate climate impact. The standard also enhances the credibility and comparability of GHG emissions information, making it easier to make informed decisions on environmental sustainability.
